Our History

Comfort Keepers of Bryan/College Station, Conroe, and Waco
Aron and Linnann Collins, Texas A&M classes of 1997 and 1995, established Comfort Keepers of Bryan/College Station (2007) and the Conroe area (2010) in order to help seniors live happy, healthy lives in the privacy and comfort of their own homes.  They understood the need for this service after watching Linnann’s mother leave her husband in Houston so she could move to Tivoli where she cared for Linnann’s grandmother for seven years on their family’s 100 year old homestead.  “We recognized a need for caregivers so families wouldn’t have to exchange their lives or put them on hold to care for elderly parents or loved ones,” explained Aron.

This experience prompted the Collins to research companies that provide non-medical in-home care services.  They found the perfect fit with Comfort Keepers.

Aron and Linnann have a strong desire to serve in the community, to care for the aging population, as well as to make a significant impact in the quality of life of our seniors.

History

Starting the In-Home Care Service

The Comfort Keepers® story began in 1997 when Kris Clum, a registered nurse working in home health care, discovered firsthand the need for someone to assist her patients with their non-medical needs. As a nurse, she was allowed only to tend to their medical, or skilled care, needs.

Sometimes her patients would request something as simple as having a loaf of bread or quart of milk delivered—or to have someone spend just a few minutes in conversation to brighten their day.

Kris and her entrepreneurial husband, Jerry Clum Jr., knew they could provide a solution.

Today, that solution is known as Comfort Keepers. Comfort Keepers provides non-medical, in-home care services to thousands of people by way of more than 550 franchised offices in the United States, Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

The Comfort Keepers franchise system is comprised of a network of caring individuals committed to providing comforting care solutions that enable seniors and others to live safely, happily and independently at home.
Many of our current location owners came to Comfort Keepers as a result of their own experiences of caring for a loved one and discovering the tremendous difference that in-home care makes in the quality of a senior’s life.

Mission and Philosophy

Our Mission is to provide our clients with the highest level of quality of life that is achievable.

The Mission of all Comfort Keepers locations is to deliver high quality in-home care services that enable seniors and other clients to enjoy the highest level of independence and quality of life achievable, in the comfort of their own home.

In doing so, we care for each client with the respect and dignity we would provide a member of our own family. In fact, many of our independent owners have been drawn to Comfort Keepers as a result of their own experiences in caring for a loved one.

We provide our services within the framework of our distinctive approach to in-home care, Interactive Caregiving, which heightens our clients’ enjoyment of life physically, mentally and emotionally.
